Joaquín Míguez
Joaquin Miguez (MSc 1997, PhD 2000) is a a Professor at the Department of Signal Theory and Communications, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, since 2017. He has also held positions as Reader in Computational Mathematics, Queen Mary University of London (2015-16), Associate Professor at Universidade da Coruña (2003-04) and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (2004-17), visiting fellow at the Department of Mathematics of Imperial College London (Jan 2013 – Feb 14) and postdoctoral visiting researcher at Stony Brook University (2001).
JM’s research interests include the fields of computational statistics and statistical signal processing, nonlinear dynamics as well as several applications of these methodological tools –sensor networks, meteorology and climate science, tracking and navigation, ecology and medicine. He has published extensively on these topics and delivered research seminars on various European universities and research institutes. He is a co-recipient of the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine Best Paper Award 2003 and the Excellence Award in Research of the Social Council of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in 2014.
