I am a doctoral researcher on the field of Data Mining and Machine Learning, affiliated with the Database and Information Systems group at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, and the Exploratory Data Analysis group at the CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security. I work on the intersection of Information Theory and Optimization, where I develop theory and algorithms for exploratory analysis tasks such as discovering correlated attributes and functional dependencies in data. I put special emphasis on interpretable and robust results, and to efficient algorithms that offer solutions with guarantees. I, more often than not, apply my work on the challenging domain of scientific discovery, such as finding functional dependencies describing phenomena in Materials Science.
