We present the R package staRVe for analyzing spatio-temporal point-referenced data in a hierarchical generalized linear mixed model framework. Our package is designed to be easy-to-use and computationally efficient for model fitting, covariate effect estimation, prediction, and model validation. Existing workflows can easily take advantage of our package, since data input and output uses the sf and raster data formats. We develop an understanding of the model through simulation, and work through a typical analysis using a case study of Carolina wren abundance.
